The rain poured down on Melbourne last night which resulted in a seriously depleted New Year’s Eve celebration at Federation Square.
Yet the place was still packed to the rafters and I would say most were still in good spirits despite the heavy rain. Umbrellas were raised instead of beer bottles, and the first round of fireworks and the garden concert at 9.15 pm were cancelled without much of a whimper, but the celebrations continued regardless.
It was a great rain-soaked experience which heralds a new decade that hopefully will be as memorable as the last.
Happy New Year everyone!
